Spaghetti Sauce

Mom’s  Spaghetti Sauce Recipe

 

4 quarts tomatoes cut and peeled

1 cup chopped onion

3/4 cup sugar

3/4 cup oil

1 chopped medium green pepper

5 teaspoons salt

2 teaspoons oregano

1 teaspoon garlic powder

24 oz. tomato paste

Mix all ingredients EXCEPT tomato paste. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 hour.  Then add tomato paste and cook for hour to hour and a half or until it gets thick.  Heat jars and lids. Pour sauce in jars and put on lids and tighten rims. Jars should seal without a water bath.
